| The week of January 4, 2010 Newsletter Chair President Joyce Grant Debbie Taylor |
| PFRW/NFRW Dues Reminder It is hard to believe it is that time of year again. PFRW local council presidents and treasurers are reminded that the initial PFRW dues deadline is March 31, 2010. PFRW dues are $10 per member and NFRW dues are also $10 per member. The NFRW rate increase was approved at the NFRW Biennial Convention in September. There is also a yearly service fee of $15 for NFRW. Local councils paying their initial dues by the March 31st deadline are eligible to have delegates/alternates at the 2010 convention. The day will begin at 1:00 p.m. on April 13th at the state capitol in Harrisburg with PFRW's annual Red Jacket Day. PFRW members will have an opportunity to meet with elected officials. At 5:00 p.m. there will be a reception followed by a 6:00 p.m. dinner to recognize the 2010 PFRW Honoree (s). | February 12th in Harrisburg. Complete details and the official board meeting call will be announced shortly. PA GOP Update 2010 is a very important election year in Pennsylvania. With the help of Republican women across the commonwealth we could reclaim our US Senate seat as well as the Governor's mansion in November. Several Republican challengers have announced their intent to run against current Democrat congressmen as well. At thi present time there are two announced Republican candidates for the US Senate, three Republican candidates running for Governor and at last count eight Republicans seeking the nomination for Lt. Governor. PFRW members had the chance to meet a number of these candidates at the annual convention in October. Over the next several weeks the Regional Caucuses of Republican State Committee will be meeting with these candidates. The full Republican State Committee has their winder meeting in Harrisburg on February 13th where endorsement decisions will be made. As the primary campaign season gets underway PFRW members are reminded that bylaws prohibit either a local council or the state federation from endorsing a candidate in a contested race before the Republican primary. However, individuals are encouraged to become active with the candidate of their choice. Please visit the PA GOP web site at www.pagop.org to keep up to date on the 2010 election cycle. |
